Daniel Savage – This page is – part of Ekphrasis – 2020

Ekphrasis is an art conversation between 10 artists selected by Laura  Bergmann. Each artists has responded to the work of the artists before to produce a 15 centimetre by 15 centimetre art work. All ten works have been printed in their respective orders in a concertina book, allowing the audience to observe the visual conversation as a whole.

This page is… by Daniel Savage is the final work in Ekphrasis. It consists of twenty two equal sized capital letters, on a 15 by 15 centimetre blank white page. Two of the letters are positioned next to each other in the top left quarter  of the page and the remaining twenty letters are positioned throughout the bottom left two thirds. The letters are not positioned in a clear reading order but are as follows I, N, T, E, N T, I, O, N, A, L, L, Y, L, E, F, T, B, L, A, N, and K.

The letters are a dark blue colour equivalent to Hex 003DA5 or Red 0 Green 61 Blue 165. In the top right quarter of the page there is a QR code that, when scanned using a smart phone, links to this audio description. The QR code is comprised of a series of black dots and at its centre is the International Symbol of Accessibility. The symbol features a dark blue square, matching the colour of the text, overlaid by a white stylised image of a person in a wheelchair.
